Planning a party trip and torn between the two major Mediterranean party destinations? Sun, clubs, boat parties, beaches… the two islands seem similar on paper. But let's be honest: by 2026, it won't really be a tie anymore.
At Malta Adventures, we live in Malta year-round. We know Paceville like the back of our hand, we test every new establishment, and we've been organizing festive holidays for years. Here's our no-holds-barred comparison—with the real prices, the real advantages, and the real disappointments.
The price shock: the difference that changes everything
This is the primary criterion for the majority of groups, and there's no question about it.
In Ibiza , a night out at a superclub will set you back between €50 and €130 just for entry . A beer in a club? Between €10 and €18. A cocktail? €20-25. A bottle of water? €12. Entrance fees have doubled in the last 10 years. Add in taxis between club areas—scattered all over the island—and you can easily spend €200 to €300 per person per night before you've even had a chance to dance.
In Malta , the reality is completely different. Paceville clubs are much cheaper than in Ibiza —between €20 and €30 for entry, depending on the venue and the night. A beer in a Paceville bar? €3 to €4 . At Big G's, a local institution, you can order 60 shots for €20 . Large glasses are €7. And for €20 for two people, we won't lie—the night is definitely off to a great start.
For a 3-night weekend, a group of 10 people saves between €3,500 and €5,000 by choosing Malta over Ibiza. This includes the entire budget for flights, accommodation, and activities.
Logistics: 200 meters versus an entire island
This is the advantage of Malta that people discover on site and that they did not expect to find.
In Ibiza , the clubs are spread across three distinct areas, separated by 15 to 25 km: Playa d'en Bossa to the east (Ushuaïa, Hï Ibiza), Ibiza Town (Pacha), and San Antonio to the west (Eden, O Beach). Each trip costs €20 to €35 by taxi . At 6 a.m., with a group of 10 people, chaos is guaranteed. Expect to spend €50 to €80 per person on transportation for the weekend—just to get from one club to another.
In Malta , Paceville is a 200-meter-long avenue in the St. Julian's district. All the bars, clubs, and restaurants are lined up side by side. You leave Sky Club, cross the street, and you're at Hugo's. You pass TwentyTwo again on your way back. A Bolt bus from your hotel in Sliema costs €5 to €8 . After that, no transport is needed. St. George's Bay beach is a 2-minute walk away. The group stays together all night—that's rare and precious.
Clubs: Atmosphere vs. Prestige
Let's be honest about this point too.
Ibiza remains the world capital of electronic music . If your dream is to hear Fisher or Carl Cox in a crazy setting with 5,000 people, Ibiza is irreplaceable. That's a fact. Ibiza's superclubs are in a league of their own when it comes to music programming.
Malta doesn't pretend to be on that level. What it offers is a truly accessible, festive, and laid-back nightlife . The dress code in Paceville is relaxed—no "mandatory trousers" like at Pacha, no being turned away at the door for shorts. The clubs close at 4 a.m. (compared to 6 a.m. in Ibiza), but honestly, a group that started downing €20 shots at 10 p.m. doesn't need any more.
Our on-the-ground advice: one night out = one club . With entrance fees, it's better to choose one place and enjoy it fully rather than visiting multiple clubs. Discover our selection on the Malta Nightclubs page.

Boat parties: Malta wins hands down
Both destinations offer boat parties. But the comparison is clear.
In Ibiza, a boat party costs around €50 to €130 per person , often with a partial open bar (2 drinks + sangria) and lasting 3 hours.
In Malta, the Classic is €69 , the White Edition €79 . Unlimited open bar—beers, spirits, soft drinks. Duration: 4 to 5 hours at sea. Sandwich included on board. Departing from Sliema, sailing along the Maltese coast with its golden limestone cliffs and turquoise coves inaccessible by road. It's an experience you won't find in Ibiza—not at this price, not in this setting. All dates are available on the Boat Party Malta page.

Malta or Ibiza for a stag do?
This is THE question we get asked most often. And our answer is clear: Malta is objectively the best choice for a stag do in 2026 , unless the group is made up of electronic music enthusiasts with an unlimited budget.
Here's why. Stag/hen parties that come to Malta—usually 8 to 15 people —leave with the same conclusion: they had a better time than in Ibiza the previous year, for half the price. The money saved on clubs and drinks, they spend on a boat party, a jet ski session, quad biking in Gozo, or a dinner by the sea.
In Ibiza, clubs actively discourage stag/hen parties : Nikki Beach explicitly forbids accessories and matching outfits associated with stag/hen parties, Ushuaïa imposes a strict dress code, and anti-party regulations become stricter every year. The city council has banned the sale of alcohol outside of bars after 9:30 p.m., with fines of up to €1,500 for public consumption.
Malta, for its part, welcomes festive groups with open arms. No judgment, no restrictions, no fine for a shot on the sidewalk.

Malta or Ibiza for a classic holiday?
For a stay as a couple, with friends or in "sun + relaxation + a few evenings" mode, both destinations have their advantages.
Ibiza wins on : international music lineup, legendary sunsets from Café Mambo in San Antonio, and myth — Ibiza has an aura that few destinations can claim.
Malta wins on : value for money (cost of living 7 to 15% lower than France, therefore well below Ibiza), cultural richness (Valletta UNESCO World Heritage Site, the oldest megalithic temples in the world, the Three Cities), diversity of activities (diving, quad biking in Gozo, boat trips)... and the fact that the island is accessible all year round , with a full festive agenda visible on our Malta Nightlife page.
In 2024, Malta welcomed 3.56 million visitors —an all-time record, a 19.5% increase in just one year. The international press is openly asking the question: "Is Malta the New Ibiza?" (Wonderland Magazine, DJ Mag). This isn't just hype—it's a genuine trend.
