Riding a quad bike on Gozo: what to expect
You steer a quad with handlebars, like a four-wheeled motorbike.
Handlebar steering
You sit astride the seat and steer with the handlebars. The passenger sits behind the driver. Yippee uses 570cc 4x4 quads.
Equipment
A helmet is provided and insurance is included. With Yippee, fuel is included too, and the driver must wear closed shoes: no flip-flops or sandals.
Share a quad, or one each
A quad takes two people: the driver and a passenger aged 5 or over. If you are both 21 or over with a driving licence, you can take turns driving. To drive a quad each, book two driver places.
The quad bike route on Gozo
The full-day guided tour stops at these three places and also takes in Xlendi, the Fontana washhouses, Wied il-Għasri and Marsalforn. The full-day tour with lunch goes via Qala, Ramla Bay, Xewkija, Xlendi and Dwejra. The route can change from one day to the next.
Viewpoint
Sanap Cliffs
In the south of Gozo, near Munxar. They are also called the Ta' Ċenċ cliffs, and the view reaches all the way to Comino and Malta. The guide takes you to the best viewpoints.
Famous site
Dwejra Bay
On the west coast, at San Lawrenz: the Inland Sea, Fungus Rock and the spot where the Azure Window stood, the natural arch that collapsed in a storm in 2017.

Xwejni salt pans
Near Marsalforn, on the north coast: square pans cut into the rock, where sea salt is harvested. In summer, you can often watch the harvest.

Depending on the tour, the price is per person (two sharing one quad) or per quad (driver alone, or driver + passenger). On tours priced per person, a driver alone on a quad pays more: the price is shown when you book.
Quad bike hire or guided tour?
A guided tour, not self-drive hire
You drive your own quad, always in convoy behind the guide, on a set route. We do not hire out quads without a guide.
Nothing to organise
You are picked up at your hotel in Malta, a boat takes you to Gozo, and the guide knows the tracks and the viewpoints. No ferry to book, no need to find your way.
Who can drive
The driver must be 21 or over and show their original driving licence on the day of the tour. Copies, photos and provisional licences are not accepted. With Yippee, a €450 excess applies in the event of an accident you are responsible for, or of damage to the quad.
Good to know before booking
- Full-day tours: every day, all year round. Sunset tours: from mid-April to mid-October.
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure.
- Meal included: a picnic on Yippee tours; a 3-course restaurant lunch or a Mediterranean platter with a cocktail on the other tours (see the tour's page).
- Rough sea: the crossing is made by ferry, with tickets included. In summer, the swim then takes place on Gozo (Yippee tours).
- Tours with Comino: swim at the Blue Lagoon or the Crystal Lagoon. According to Yippee, no Blue Lagoon pass is needed on their tours, because you swim from the boat.
- On Yippee tours, the guide speaks English or French.
