Cafe del Mar is a brand born in Ibiza in 1994, worldwide recognized for its chill-out music compilations and mythical sunsets. The Maltese version, located in Malta's National Aquarium complex in Qawra, has adopted its signature visual identity: all white, clean lines, infinity pool whose edge blends directly into the blue waters of the Mediterranean.
From the terrace, the view encompasses the islands of Saint Paul, Gozo and Comino — one of the most beautiful perspectives on the island, particularly striking at sunset between 7:30pm and 8:30pm.
Cafe del Mar Malta operates in two ways: a refined daytime lido, open from April to October, and an event space prized from dusk onwards.
A day at Cafe del Mar Malta
The lido is open from April to October, 10am to 7pm. Access is via sunbed reservation — from standard to private cabana with premium service.
Arriving early (before 10:30am) lets you choose the ideal spot. Sunbeds include umbrella, pool access and showers. Breakfast can be ordered directly from your sunbed.
Full Mediterranean menu: pasta, grilled meats, sushi, burgers. During peak season, the restaurant is reserved for sunbed guests at lunch. Terrace service with panoramic sea views.
The most sought-after moment. The sun sets to the west behind Bugibba, casting golden reflections across the entire terrace. A spectacle guests return to see every year.
On non-pool party days, free entry to the restaurant from 7pm. Nave Bistro, the adjacent restaurant, stays open year-round, even off-season.
Good to know: The evening pool party ticket does not include access to daytime sunbeds — two separate offerings. To enjoy the lido by day AND the evening, book a sunbed directly with Cafe del Mar in advance.
Thursday pool parties — the event of the season
Every Thursday in July and August, Cafe del Mar Malta transforms. The illuminated infinity pool becomes the heart of an evening where thousands of travelers from all over Europe gather. One of Malta's most sought-after events — often sold out weeks in advance.
Music
DJ sets deep house and electro, in line with the chill-out DNA of the Cafe del Mar brand born in Ibiza. The atmosphere builds progressively throughout the evening.
The sunset
Evenings start at 8pm to catch the last rays. Arriving early is strongly recommended before things intensify.

The lido and infinity pool are open from April to October only. The main restaurant operates on the same seasonality. However, Nave Bistro — the adjacent restaurant — remains open year-round and allows you to enjoy the exceptional setting even off-season.
Is Cafe del Mar Malta family-friendly?+
Yes, during the day. The lido has a kids pool (0.3m to 0.6m) and a secure family area, making it a suitable address with children. The restaurant also welcomes families with a children's menu. Evening events are reserved for 17 years and older.
Is there a dress code for the evenings?+
No strict dress code. Swimsuits alone are forbidden in the restaurant. For evenings, smart casual or summer chic attire is recommended. Bring swimsuit + evening outfit if you want to enjoy the pool.
