Malta's techno club

If you like techno, this is where it happens. Liquid Club is the pillar of the Maltese electronic scene: the Main Room has hosted more techno DJs than any other club on the island, from Jeff Mills and Ben Klock to Kobosil (February 2026) or Maurer (November 2026). People come for the music, not by chance while walking down the street.

The club isn't in Paceville but in San Ġwann, on the road that goes around the village (Triq Ħal Għargħur), right next to Aria Complex. The exact spot falls on the border of the Iklin parish, which is why some websites write Iklin.

A 50-year history: from Vibes to Liquid

The venue opened in the 1970s under the name Vibes, an indoor club with an outdoor garden, among the most popular on the island in the 1990s. In 1998, it changed hands and became Liquid Club. The outdoor area has since been removed: today, everything happens indoors. Retro parties still pay tribute to that era, like Funkytown on 5 December 2026 (80s-90s).

Regulars also remember the aquarium in the middle of the dance floor, a landmark of the club for years.

Two rooms, two atmospheres

  • Main Room: the big room, straight-up techno, big sound.
  • Backroom: smaller, for more intimate, more experimental and later parties.

Both rooms are fitted with a VOID Acoustics sound system. The club holds about 950 people.

The programme and prices

Liquid opens all year round, mostly on Fridays and Saturdays. Parties start around 10pm (sometimes 10:30pm or 11pm) and finish around 4am, sometimes 5am. Each party is put on by a collective: Neolitika, Revolver, Basstek, Spektrum, Locals, Trikki, Kore Hypnotica, Impulse Division…

A few dates for late 2026: Neolitika with Bailey Ibbs on 21 November, Bunker Rave on 27 November, Impulse Division on 28 November, Funkytown (retro) on 5 December.

  • Tickets: each promoter sells their own (Resident Advisor, ShowsHappening, Skiddle, Fourvenues). In 2026, we've seen €15 and €20 in advance, €25 at the door. The big parties have very few tickets at the door: buy beforehand.
  • Age: no general rule published; depending on the party, 17 or 18. Bring ID.
  • Dress code: casual; some parties have their own code (all black, for example).
  • Payment: older listings talk about cash only at the bar: bring some cash just in case.

Getting there and back

Liquid is about 2.7 km from Paceville as the crow flies, far from the night buses.

  • Bolt or taxi: the simplest option, there and back. Search for "Liquid Club" or "Aria Complex" in the app.
  • Daytime bus: route 202 (St Julian's – San Ġwann – Naxxar) serves the area, but there's no night bus on this road.
  • tallinja On Demand: a minibus you book in the tallinja app, Friday to Sunday from 7pm to 3am, in a few zones around St Julian's (€2.50 with the tallinja card). Check in the app that the club's stop is covered.

Tip: at closing time, lots of people leave Liquid and Aria at the same time. Order your Bolt a little beforehand, or share it with your group.

Our parties right next door: Aria Complex

Malta Adventures doesn't sell tickets for Liquid. But Aria Complex, right next door on the same road, has a pool, an indoor club and gardens, with parties that we sell. And for the big house and electro parties of the summer, take a look at Gianpula too.
