Strip clubs in Malta: where are they?

Malta's gentlemen's clubs are almost all in Paceville, the party district of St Julian's, on St George's Road, the main street, or in the streets that lead off it (the St Rita Steps, Wilga Street). A few are elsewhere, on Dragonara Road or in Buġibba.

The directories list a dozen or so names: Déjà Vu, White Palace, Stiletto, Steam, Angels, Diamond Dolls, Burlesque and others. But a lot of the listings are several years old. In November 2026, only Déjà Vu (St George's Road) has an up-to-date official website. For the others, nothing proves they're open: find out on the spot.

Malta's "Strip" isn't what you think

Lots of people search for "strip Malta" or "the strip St Julian's". In Malta, "The Strip" simply means St George's Road, the main street of bars and clubs in Paceville, which runs down to St George's Bay. As several gentlemen's clubs are on this street or right next to it, the two get mixed up in searches. But the street is first and foremost dozens of bars and nightclubs open until 4am.

Is it legal?

Yes, these clubs operate with the ordinary licence of a bar or a nightclub, issued by the Malta Tourism Authority. There's no special licence. The government has been promising a clean framework since 2013 (no private rooms, no touts, distance from schools…), but according to our sources, it has never been adopted. Women's rights groups are calling instead for them to be shut down.

The scams reported

This is the most important point on this page. The British government officially warns its travellers: in some bars and gentlemen's clubs in Paceville, criminals have drugged customers, then forced them to spend large sums or assaulted them.

The Maltese press has reported several cases:

  • 2019: a Canadian tourist says he was drugged in a Paceville strip club; two credit cards drained, about 15,000 Canadian dollars. His receipts show charges from €35 to over €1,000, three of them within 40 minutes.
  • 2022: two British men say they were drugged and threatened; transfers were made from one of their banking apps, unlocked with his face.
  • 2023: a tourist says he was overcharged in a Paceville club (about €200 for what should have cost €50); the case ended up in court.
  • 2026: a young British man wants to get back the money he spent in a strip club; the police tell him it's a civil matter, to be settled in court.

Remember the last one above all: if you get ripped off, the police won't get your money back for you on the spot.

The habits to have

  1. Ask for prices before ordering: a drink for a dancer, a dance, a private room, a bottle.
  2. Keep your drink in sight and don't accept a drink from a stranger. If a drink hits you harder than expected, leave.
  3. Check the bill and every card receipt before signing or typing your PIN.
  4. Never unlock your phone or your banking app for anyone, and never give out your PIN.
  5. Set yourself a limit: pay in cash or with a card with a low limit.
  6. Stay with your group and don't let anyone leave alone.
  7. If there's a problem: keep all the receipts and call your bank straight away to block the card.

The touts: in the street, staff offer free entry or free drinks. The offers that look too good are exactly the ones that come up in complaints.

Age

In Malta, you can drink alcohol from 17, but clubs can ask for more: online stag do offers ask for 18, and an old guide mentioned 25 for some clubs. Bring ID.
