Martin was born on July 22, 2003, in Alfortville, in the 94th district, of Congolese origin, and grew up in the Côteaux du Sud housing estate in Créteil. He started in theater before turning to rap writing — an atypical path that is reflected in his lyrics, which are more introspective and structured than the average of his generation. His first track, K9, released in June 2023, laid the foundation for a recognizable style. He was selected among the 12 rookies to watch by Midi/Minuit in 2025.
2025 marks his move to the next level: IA, FDT, Sierra Leone, 4h44 in collaboration with ZZ, En bas with R2. In December 2025, Requiem, his first album, was released — 15 tracks, an ambitious choice for an artist who could have settled for an EP. Mehdi Maïzi cited him on his France Inter show as one of the names to remember for 2026. What distinguishes Timar is this desire to build a coherent universe rather than just stringing together ephemeral hits.
On August 16th at Tigullio, it will be his first showcase in Malta. The main underground venue, built with Maltese stone in Spinola Bay, offers raw acoustics and attracts an international Francophone crowd. He is one of the most anticipated artists of the late 2026 season.
